Leah Jee & The Boys + Red Letter Diaries, Now You Have Audio @ BBC Upper Level (2022 E. North), 9 p.m.

From California to Milwaukee, and back to California again, musician Leah Jee  harbors feelings for both cities, going from solo musician on the West coast to band leader in the Midwest. As the front woman for the pop-punk group Leah Jee & The Boys (soon to become Fly By Stereo), Jee will be saying goodbye to Milwaukee for her band’s “Countdown to Cali”, in which the show will be just as much of a farewell party as a celebration of having made Milwaukee her musical backdrop for the past few years.

Collections of Colonies of Bees + Male, canyonsofstatic @ Mad Planet (533 E. Center), 10 p.m.

Seems like Collections of Colonies of Bees has been spending almost more time in Japan lately than their own hometown of Milwaukee. Back from a recent Japanese tour, it’s no wonder that country is fascinated with the masters of instrumental rock; the band features members of another past Milwaukee group the country had been obsessed with: Pele. Although not a complete Pele cut-out, the trace elements are enough to keep former fans in full geek-out mode for the Bees’ own brand of innovation as they present material from their most recent Birds and sneak in some audio promises of things to come.

The Miltown Beat Down Hip Hop Olympics @ Turner Hall Ballroom (1032 N. 4th), 8 p.m.

As a culmination to the hard-won beats thrown down after weeks and weeks of competition of the Miltown Beat Down, Jordan Lee/DJ Madhatter has helped to organize a proper finale at the Turner Hall Ballroom. Finalists will compete in freestyle, remix and live performances, judged by some of the most schooled in the form: ?uestlove of The Roots, Masta Ace and Diamond D. Who will win the hip hop crown of Milwaukee? Go and find out.

Sunday, April 5th

The Rosebuds + Megafaun @ Club Garibaldi’s (2501 S. Superior), 8 p.m.

By way of North Carolina come a pair of bands that might turn this weekend’s Sunday night into Saturday night, by handing Milwaukee a show that in all respects should have the glory of appearing at the bookend of the week. Instead, the Rosebuds arrive with their dark indie pop and Megafaun with their riveting tech-folk into the chillest of environments (Club Garibaldi’s) on one of the best nights of the week to go out (Sunday). Monday blahs? No excuse. You just saw one of the best shows of the week the night before.
