Friday, November 7th

France Has the Bomb, A/V Murder, White Mystery, Beach Patrol, 10 p.m. @ Frank’s Power Plant (2800 S. Kinnickinnic Avenue)

Self-described by singer/guitarist Srini Radhaskrishna as being “dance-y, garage-y indie rock that kicks ass but is also fun…a little Nuggets-’60s-era garage rock…but also a lot of Wire going on, and some poppier stuff like Guided by Voices“, Chicago’s France Has the Bomb is not as punk as their name implies. This hasn’t deterred fans in the least. Not their first time in Milwaukee, this band by way of Chicago are not only popular in Milwaukee for local label ties (they have releases on local Dusty Medical Records), but from the awesome band lineage they boast:  Awesome Snakes, the Soviettes, Birthday Suits, Rank Strangers, the White Outs and Sweet J.A.P. With A/V Murder, White Mystery and the Get Drunk DJ’s.

The Get Down have been providing Milwaukee with a reason to go out and shake it for many a weekend. This Saturday at Mad Planet, should be no different than others, but sometimes it’s hard to notice a good thing even when it’s right under your nose. Perhaps this is the weekend to see what all the fuss (or funk) is about?
