TGIT: Our Weekend Picks!

The weekend is always a lucrative time for mining extracurriculars in the city of Milwaukee. This particular one is no exception. We’re throwing you a couple of choices — try to catch at least one:

Thursday, August 14th
Bon Iver @ The Pabst, 8 p.m.
(144 E. Wells Street)

The man with the frozen falsetto and the warm heart, Justin Vernon/Bon Iver, will be making an appearance at The Pabst Theater this evening, sans cat. Missed him this past winter at Mad Planet? Don’t make the same mistake twice. This is one musical train you’ll want to jump on before it speeds up even more and travels even further from its original boarding point in WI.

Friday, August 15th
Into Arcadia (CD Release) / The Etiquette/ The Record Low
@ Cactus Club, 10 p.m.
(2496 S. Wentworth)

Milwaukee’s Into Arcadia take the Manchester sound and transplant it to Milwaukee, effortlessly, their dark music thriving equally as well in Wisconsin’s normally snowy climes as it would in England’s predominantly rainy one. Celebrate the band’s release of their first EP Maps for Children. And if prying minds must know, check out the post we did on Into Arcadia earlier this year *here*. Also go to see The Etiquette get psyched up for a very soon to be released full-length of their own. We’re waiting patiently.

Saturday, August 16th
Lights Out Asia (CD Release) / Strangest Places / BTS. WRKNG
@ Cactus Club, 10 p.m.
(2496 S. Wentworth)

Milwaukee’s own dreamscape specialists, Lights Out Asia, have been creating lovely, airy-but-dense music for over five years. This Saturday sees the release of their new full-length, Eyes Like Brontide. See the above video for a snippet from their last release, Tanks and Recognizers. Also with Strangest Places and BTS. WRKNG.
