The Borg Ward is home to some of Milwaukee’s most daring and creative exports in the realms of sound, regularly filling the space with the dissonance and art of noise. This Saturday should not be missed for fans of pushed musical boundaries, as the Borg Ward collects some of the city’s most driven and talented noisemakers to have a musical mind-meld: Peter J. Woods and Hal Rammel, to name just two.
Present Music presents Soundbrain @ Discovery World (500 N. Harbor Drive), 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.
Join Milwaukee’s innovators of contemporary classical music, Present Music, as they welcome Wisconsin-raised composer, Ryan Carter to create a cacophony of classical and electronic sounds along with the Milwaukee Laptop Orchestra. Two shows in Discovery World‘s Pilot House will be sandwiched with music-technology exhibits and demonstrations.
Kid, You’ll Move Mountains [CD Release] + The Elusive Parallelograms, Disguised as Birds, The Chairs @ Cactus Club (2496 S. Wentworth), 10 p.m.
Kid, You’ll Move Mountains (IL) can rightly call Milwaukee home in part to vocalist/guitarist and former Milwaukee native, Jim Hanke (El Oso). Because of dual citizenship, the band will be releasing their new album Loomings at the Cactus Club. Also playing: Elusive Parallelograms, Disguised as Birds and The Chairs. Psst — word is out that one Disguised as Birds band mate is temporarily flying the coop to allow a special guest to sit in. Who will be perched onstage? Find out Saturday.
